Market News

 

While both Canadian indices tracked in this section were down this past week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average moved up sharply during the same time period. The S&P TSX Venture Composite Index shed 5.01 points to close on Friday at 789.00. Canada’s most watched index, the S&P TSX Composite, lost ground on four out of five trading days this week, shedding a combined 69.12 points. The TSX Composite closed on Friday at 16,038.97 points. Down in the United States, the Dow Jones Industrial Average posted a significant gain for the week of 673.60 points and reached a new all-time high on Nov 30 of 24,327.82. The Dow Jones finished at 24,231.59 points on Friday.
