Market News


After a couple of weeks on a downward trend, the major North American markets bounced back this week. The S&P TSX Venture Composite Index delivered a gain of 16.78 points , closing at 830.17 points on Friday. Canada’s primary stock index, the S&P TSX Composite, bounced back from the prior week's 52-week low to add a combined 418.11 points. The TSX Composite closed on Friday at 15,452.64 points. South of the border in the United States, stocks also recovered with 5 straight days of gains after one of the worst weeks in memory. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 1,028.48 points (4.3%) on the week including three different days with more than 250 points gained. The Dow Jones closed on Friday at 25,219.38 points.
