We are going to try a new feature this week in the form of a QIS Capital Conference Call with Tyrone Docherty, President of Deer Horn Capital Inc. (DHC:CSE). We will hold two calls on Tuesday, January 22nd at 4:00pm EST (1:00 PST) and 9:00pm EST (6:00pm PST). Market News

 

The large cap indexes we track in the weekly blog managed to post a gain while the small-cap focused Venture index posted a small loss. The S&P TSX Venture Composite Index decreased on the week by 6.26 points to finish on Friday back below 600 at 595.51 points. Canada's benchmark stock index, the S&P TSX Composite Index, posted a fourth consecutive weekly gain and has been in the green on 15 of the past 16 trading days. On Friday, the TSX Composite closed up at 15,303.83 points, an increase of 364.65 from last week. In the United States, the Dow Jones Industrial Average also continued to recover from December lows. For the week, the Dow Jones added a combined 710.40 points to close on Friday at 24,706.35.
