silly season upon us?

I find that the last few weeks in December sees trading that is not often based on fndamentals. Stocks that have had good run ups often have buy bids in to keep the share price up so that the fund or manager can look good. Conversly, stocks that have not had a decent run in the year can be kept down either because of sellers selling to offset tax gains in other stocks or just to get shares off the books by year end. Good opportunity for bargain hunting. I have not researched to see if there is any study that supports my theory; just a hunch based on my experience.
